According to the Home Ministry, Home Minister Shah expressed concern over the delay in the publication of Red Corner notices and stressed the need for the speedy publication of such notices. Shah told Stock that with such cooperation, India is more strict in the case of high-profile fugitive economic criminals and terrorists. The Red Corner Notice is an international arrest warrant in which Interpol urges its member countries to arrest or detain fugitives.

According to the Home Ministry data, during 2016, 2017 and 2018, the Central Bureau of Investigation sent requests to Interpol to issue 91, 94 and 123 Red Corners respectively and Interpol issued 87, 84 and 76 notices respectively. Naik is currently living in Malaysia. India on Saturday proposed to host the Interpol General Assembly in 2022 as part of the 75th-anniversary celebrations of the country's independence.
