New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry has decided to provide X category security to 61 MLAs amid violence in the state following the trinamool Congress (TMC) victory in West Bengal. It has been decided to give security to 61 BJP MLAs from Bengal after a detailed review of the CISF.
State that 70 more people were earlier given protection which is valid till May 15. CISF have also been deployed to protect these 70 BJP leaders. Incidents of political violence continue in Bengal. There were also incidents of attacks on TMC and BJP leaders during the elections. Several BJP workers in Bengal have also accused people of attacking TMC after the elections were over. The party had also staged a protest against the attack on BJP workers in Bengal. BJP president JP Nadda had also arrived in Bengal to express his protest.
Earlier, BJP leader Pravesh Singh Verma had warned that 'Remember the TMC MPs, the CM and the MLAs there also have to come to Delhi. Take this as a warning'. The son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma said that an election leads to victory and defeat, but not murder. He said TMC goons have been targeting BJP workers since their victory in Bengal.
