Home Ministry issues notification for selling-purchase of land in J&K

New Delhi: In a notification issued on Tuesday by the Modi government regarding the Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh, now these two Union Territories have been allowed to purchase land for outsiders as well. According to the notification of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the third order of the Union Government of Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Adaptation of Central Laws), 2020 has been issued and also come into force with immediate effect.

After this notification, Jammu and Kashmir's Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has stated, "We want outside industries to be set up in Jammu and Kashmir, hence there is a need for investment in industrial land but the cultivated land is only with the people of the state." It is noteworthy that till the release of this notification, only permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir could sell and buy land.

According to the notification of the Ministry of Home Affairs, now any Indian can buy land for factory, house or shop in Jammu and Kashmir. For this, he will not be required to provide proof of being a local resident of any kind. Keep in mind that the Central Government abolished Article 370 last year. After this, Jammu and Kashmir has declared a Union Territory on 31 October 2019.
