Sayani Gupta, who has been in Web series including 'Inside Edge' and 'Four More Shots Please!,' is slated to star in a youth drama called '#Homecoming,' which will be set in her birthplace of Kolkata.
Sayani shot her first major feature film in her birthplace, and she's happy to be back, this time on a work trip, in her favourite city. "Kolkata is my home, and it is, without a doubt, my favourite city in the world," Sayani adds. Having spent the most of my life in the city, getting the chance to film here and be closer to my origins in terms of business is a whole different experience.
"It was amazing at anything so comfy when you start conversing around your own language or not only when you are playing on sets with everyone," says the actor. According to the actor, she enjoyed speaking the Bangla phrases.
"I was actually a little nervous because I speak Bangla; people shouldn't think that the Bangla is different; when you live outside, there is a little twang that comes with it; I don't think I have that, and I have never done Bangla dialogues in my life since I started working professionally with so much Bangla theatre, so doing a film in Bangla was great fun."
"It was surreal, gorgeous, and I enjoyed filming in Kolkata. It's also a riot shooting in Kolkata because it's so much fun, the cuisine is delicious, and I get to visit my mother frequently. I've filmed a few projects in Kolkata, but #Homecoming was the longest, and it was an incredible experience "she continues.
Tushar Pandey, Plabita Borthakur, and Soham Majumdar also feature in '#Homecoming.' Soumyajit Majumdar directed, wrote, and produced the film, which will be released by Sony Music and streamed on Sony Liv shortly.
