New Delhi: Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram made a statement last Saturday. The statement said, "Erasing the name of the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru from India's history is like removing Cristiano Ronaldo from the history of football or the Wright brothers from the history of aviation. In fact, a Congress meeting was held in Madgaon town of South Goa last Saturday and Chidambaram said, "The BJP-led central government's attempt to uniformity is India's biggest enemy.''

At the same time, he added, 'Imagine how it would feel if Cristiano Ronaldo was left out in the history of football. If the history of the motor car is written, won't Henry Ford be there? If the history of the plane is written, will there not be Wright Brothers? The BJP is trying to rewrite history. We should stand against it, the party which can stand against it can only be the Congress.'

In fact, the former Union Minister said this while referring to a poster released by the Indian Council of Historical Research on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India's independence. In the meantime, he also said, 'Nehru was missing from the poster.' Chidambaram also said, 'I warn you. If you allow this trend to continue, they will remove the Jawaharlal Nehru chapter from the history books. Yes, It is Sardar Patel, we are happy with it. Maulana Abul Kalam is free, we are happy. But why is Jawaharlal Nehru not there?' Let us also tell all of you that senior Congress leaders are currently on a three-day visit to Goa as senior observers in charge of the All India Congress Committee for the 2022 Goa Assembly elections.
