Car maker Honda Car India has stopped production at the Tapukara plant in Rajasthan and the Greater Noida plant due to a coronavirus lockdown. Auto companies are now on track when permission has been granted to resume production as per the norms set by state governments and local authorities. Honda Car India is going to start production at the Tapukara plant in Rajasthan from next week. In 2014, the company started production at the Tapukara plant and manufactures Honda Amaze, Jazz, WR-V and New Generation City.

Regarding the matter, Honda Cars India Senior Vice President and Director, Rajesh Goyal said, "With the new relaxation by the government, we will be following the norms set by the central and state government as well as local authorities. We were planning to start operations at the plant. Many of our partners today are in the plant including equipment testing, training protocols, security declarations."

The company needs manpower to start production at the lower level and also in a single shift, which also comes from the neighbourhood and the surrounding areas of Dharuhera Rewari. Goyal said that at present it seems difficult to get the necessary manpower due to travel restrictions and start production as per our plan. The company is yet to get permission to produce at the Greater Noida plant and the company will resume production in Greater Noida after obtaining the necessary permission from the authorities and overcoming the manpower availability challenge.
