A study by TMH(Tata Memorial hospital)has led to hope to the survival of triple negative breast cancer. They said a combination of two ‘Anti-diabetic’ and ‘Chemotherapy drugs’ are only costing less then Rs 120 a month, has refined  survival rates by a powerful 40% in a section of breast cancer.

Approx 33% of breast cancer at the TMH are triple negative in which younger women are more affected and difficult to cure. The researchs, based on 64 patients  treated at a Chiplun-based excel hospital connected to Tata, presented that the five-year survival rate of 37 women who took the maintenance doses rose to 90% as compared to 50% in those who did not take the drugs.

The survivals were given two pills of anti-cancer and one anti-diabetic drug every day for one-and-a-half years.

Dr.Shripad Banavali(professor and head of department of medical oncology) said,"The findings are remarkable and make a crucial case for metronomic therapy ,"
