On India's 78th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the Red Fort, marking his 11th consecutive address from this historic site. Following the hoisting of the national flag, Modi shared his hopes for peace and progress in neighboring Bangladesh.
In his speech, Modi expressed India's unwavering commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s development. “India is dedicated to seeing our neighboring countries thrive in peace and prosperity. We are committed to supporting their progress,” he stated.
The Prime Minister also conveyed his concern about recent events in Bangladesh, emphasizing the safety of minority communities. “As a neighbor, India is deeply concerned about the situation in Bangladesh. We hope for a swift improvement,” he said.
Concluding his address, Modi reiterated India’s best wishes for Bangladesh’s continued growth and stability.
This year’s Independence Day theme, ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047,’ reflects the Indian government’s ambition to transform the country into a developed nation by the year 2047.
Modi expressed India's unwavering commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s development. “India is dedicated to seeing our neighboring countries thrive in peace and prosperity. We are committed to supporting their progress,” he stated.
The Prime Minister further hoped that the situation in Bangladesh, which has recently experienced unrest due to student protests over government job quotas and the resignation of Sheikh Hasina as Prime Minister, "normalizes at the earliest." He emphasized India's concern for the safety of Hindus and other minority groups in Bangladesh.
“As a neighboring country, I understand the concerns regarding recent events in Bangladesh. I hope the situation there gets back to normal soon. The safety of Hindus and minorities is a significant concern for our 140 crore countrymen. India always wants its neighboring countries to follow the path of prosperity and peace,” PM Modi said.
