Ahmedabad: Three people have died and three others injured when a car collided with a tanker on a highway in Patan district of Gujarat on Thursday. Police said an eight-year-old girl was among the dead. A police official said the incident took place near Lanwa village on Mehsana-Chanasma Highway.

Deputy Inspector RD Makwana of Chanasma police station informed about the accident and said that while police are trying to ascertain the cause of the accident, eyewitnesses claim that the car driver lost control of the vehicle in an attempt to save the scooter from colliding and the car collided with an oncoming tanker.

The official further said that after the accident, the tanker driver left the vehicle there and fled from the spot. It also informed that no formal complaint has been lodged so far. Makwana said the incident took place when some members of a family and one of their relatives who had come to their village from Surat were on their way to another village to attend the event.
