Mumbai: In a shocking incident, A hospital in Mumbai handover the wrong body to the family. The family realised that they had received the wrong body when they pulled the cover to show the deceased's face to their relatives for one last time.
According to report, 70 year old Bhujnga Shetty who was admitted to the hospital on January 25, died on Tuesday morning after a prolonged illness. Just before the funeral procession began, Shetty family got shocked when they uncovered the face of the body to discover. After the enraged family called up the hospital to inform them of the mix-up, Bhujnga's body was sent to their house immediately and the stranger's body taken away. An attendant of Bhaktivedanta hospital was suspended for allegedly mixing up dead bodies at the mortuary.
As per the report, The hospital has ordered an enquiry into the case and also suspended an attendant. Morgue staff usually requests the family members to identify the deceased before releasing the bodies. However, the management of the hospital suspects that the morgue attendant, Anant Shankar Sawant neither followed the step nor checked the deceased the patient's tag before handing over the body to the family.
