There have been constant complaints on a large scale against corporate hospitals as they are charging money for the treatment of corona victims. Despite the outrage of the government and the high court, the attitude of some hospitals has not changed. A corona patient was billed Rs 20 lakh for 22 days of treatment and the hospital said that they'll not hand over the body unless the money was paid.

Recently, Corona infected a security guard in Murshidabad. He was admitted to a hospital in Secunderabad. He was treated for 22 days and lost his life while he was getting treated. Hospital sources have billed Rs 20 lakh for his treatment. With Rs 11.5 lakh already paid through insurance, they decided to hand over the dead body if the rest is paid. The body was kept in the mortuary for 40 hours without being handed over.

When the leaders of the Christian communities came to know about this, they deposed the hospital department and lodged a complaint with the health department officials. The hospital management was alerted after the Rs 20 lakh bill went viral on social media. The body was handed over to family members. The funeral was held on Friday evening at Dundigal Cemetery. According to hospital sources, the police informed the GHMC about the dead body and kept it in the mortuary after telling them that it would take time. The dead body was handed over without asking for the rest of the money.
