Agartala, Tripura: Police Commemoration Day was observed with respect at the Manoranjan Debbarma Smriti Stadium in A.D. Nagar Police Line, Agartala, to honor the sacrifices of police personnel across the country.
Director General of Police (DGP) Amitabh Ranjan emphasized the significance of the day, stating, "Since India's independence, nearly 35,000 police officers have laid down their lives to protect the nation's integrity and ensure peace in society." He expressed both pride and sorrow while remembering the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
DGP Ranjan also highlighted the challenges faced by police officers nationwide, from Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari, and from the Northeast to the Western Coast. "We are prepared to sacrifice our lives to address any issues that arise, ensuring peace is restored and society functions smoothly," he said, reassuring the public of the police force's commitment.
During the event, attendees reflected on the bravery and resilience of the police force, recognizing their continuous efforts to create a safer environment for all.
Chief Secretary JK Sinha also paid tribute, saying, "On this Police Commemoration Day, I express my heartfelt tribute to all the police personnel and security forces who have sacrificed their lives. I pray for strength for their families and all members of the police community to endure this difficult time."
DGP Ranjan reiterated the importance of the day, stating, "Today, we pay tribute to our police personnel. Since independence, nearly 35,000 individuals have given their lives for the nation, society, and the integrity of our country. We honor their memory with both pride and sorrow."
He concluded by reaffirming the police force's dedication to maintaining peace and order. "As you can see, peace is gradually returning, and everything is getting back on track," he said.
