Amritsar: Pm Narendra Modi's security lapses in Punjab have taken place. In fact, PM Modi had arrived on a visit to Punjab on Wednesday. Some protesters blocked the Prime Minister's path while going to Hussainiwala by road here. Pm Modi's convoy was then trapped here for 15-20 minutes. This is being considered as a major lapse in pm Modi's security. The Home Ministry has called for a report from the Punjab government on the same.

In fact, PM Modi had arrived in Bathinda. From here he had to fly by helicopter to the National Martyrs' Memorial in Hussainiwala. But PM Modi waited for 20 minutes due to bad light and rain. Yet the weather did not improve, so they decided to go to the National Martyrs' Memorial by road. This route was to take 2 hours. PM Modi proceeded by road after confirming security arrangements from punjab DGP.  When PM Narendra Modi's convoy reached the flyover about 30 km before the National Martyrs' Memorial, some protesters blocked the road here. This led to PM Modi's convoy stuck on the flyover for 15-20 minutes.

According to the Home Ministry, the Punjab government was already apprised of PM Modi's programme and visit. In such a case, as per the rules, the state needed to keep security as well as contingency plans ready. At the same time, in view of the contingency plan, the Punjab government was supposed to deploy additional security on the road, but it did not happen. It was decided to return to bathinda airport of the convoy after this security lapse.
