Yes, we tell you the story of its becoming Indore and tell you about the glorious history and places here. How Indrapuri became Indoor and Indoor became Indore.

Actually, Indore is called till mini Mumbai, the financial capital of Madhya Pradesh. Its name is everywhere, but it was started on 3 March 1716 when Raja Rao Nandlal Mandloi of Indore made Indore a tax-free zone after obtaining a decree from the Mughal emperor. According to the information available in the Archaeological Department, there was a triangular struggle in the eighth century between the Palas of Bengal, the Pratiharas of the central region and the Rajputs of the south for the possession of Indore. It was ruled by the Palas, sometimes by the Pratiharas and sometimes by the Rajputs. In the eighth century, the Rajput king Indra III of Rajkot won in a triangular struggle, to commemorate this victory, he established a pagoda here and named it Indreshwar Mahadev. Due to this temple, the name of the city became Indrapuri.

In the 18th century, during the Maratha reign, the name of Indrapuri was changed to Indur and it was on its tongue. In the second half of the eighteenth century, the British changed the name of Indoor to INDOR in English and later changed to INDORE. In the Encyclopdia Britannica, Indore is said to have been settled in 1715 by zamindars interested in trading with Maratha chiefs. In 1741, these zamindars of Kampel had built the Indreshwar temple, after which the settlement was named Indrapur, then Indoor and Indoor and finally Indore.
