New Delhi: The general public is crying out over the price rise of petrol and diesel. The government is constantly being urged to reduce prices. Meanwhile, this month, the Modi government has given some relief to the public by cutting excise duty. However, the relief given by the government in the price of petrol and diesel is still not enough. Because, petrol is currently selling above Rs 100 per litre in many states.

However, almost all BJP-ruled states have given additional relief to people in petrol and diesel prices by cutting VAT. Meanwhile, on the first day of the winter session, the issue of expensive petrol and diesel also echoed in Parliament. In fact, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mala Roy (Mala Roy) questioned in the Lok Sabha how much the government earns as excise duty on petrol and diesel.

In response, the Finance Ministry said in the Lok Sabha that the government earns Rs 27.90 a litre as excise duty (Excise Duty) on petrol and Rs 21.80 per litre on diesel. Tell us that last year, the government increased excise duty due to falling crude oil prices during the corona crisis. There was an increase of Rs 13 on petrol and Rs 16 on diesel. At present, the Central Government charges Excise duty of Rs 27.90 per litre on petrol and Rs 21.8 per litre on diesel.
