New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the monsoon conditions will be normal over the country this year with 103 per cent of the average rainfall. Earlier it was predicted to have 99 percent rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said this while presenting its second phase long-term forecast for the monsoon on Tuesday.

According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon rains during the next four months (June to September) are expected to be 'normal' with the long period average at 103 per cent. However, there is also a possibility of a decrease or increase of about 4 percent in this. The IMD had earlier estimated that during the first phase of the LRF released in April, the monsoon rainfall is likely to be 99 per cent of the LPA. The LPA is calculated for the period 1971 to 2020 which is 87 cms.

It is reported that 4 regions of the country are likely to receive above normal monsoon rainfall over central India (more than 106% of the LPA); South Peninsula (more than 106% of LPA); It is expected to be normal in Northeast India (96 to 106% of LPA) and North West India (96 to 106% of LPA).
