New Delhi: Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, the newly appointed civil aviation minister, assumed office on Thursday with a promise to prioritize reducing airfare and improving aviation infrastructure. Naidu, the youngest-ever minister in Modi Cabinet 3.0 at 36 years old, is a TDP MP from Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam Lok Sabha constituency.

Before officially taking over, Naidu wrote 'Om Shree Ram' 21 times on a blank piece of paper. This personal ritual marked the beginning of his tenure as the civil aviation minister.

Reducing Airfare

One of Naidu's primary concerns is the high cost of air travel. He emphasized the importance of making air travel affordable for the common man. "Since being announced as the civil aviation minister, I’ve heard numerous complaints about rising airfares, especially post-COVID," Naidu said. "I need a thorough understanding of the issue, so I will be conducting review meetings with stakeholders. My goal is to bring down ticket prices to make air travel accessible to everyone."

Enhancing Aviation Infrastructure

Naidu also highlighted the need for India to lead in aviation infrastructure development. "Under PM Modi's leadership, civil aviation will receive top priority and a significant push. As the youngest member of the Cabinet, I have been given this responsibility, and I am determined to prove myself," he stated.

He noted the vast potential of the aviation portfolio, emphasizing its importance in elevating India's pride on the international stage. "PM Modi has given us clear directions to work diligently in the ministry, and we will ensure continuous progress," Naidu added.

Continuing a Legacy

Rammohan Naidu is following in the footsteps of his father, Yerran Naidu, a senior TDP leader and former Union minister. Yerran Naidu was the youngest minister in 1996 at the age of 39. Rammohan Naidu, who has been representing Srikakulam since 2014, now holds the record as the youngest Cabinet Minister in the NDA coalition.

With his focus on reducing airfares and enhancing infrastructure, Naidu aims to make air travel more accessible and elevate India's aviation sector.
