Lucknow: The results of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections have decided the role of power and opposition for the BJP and SP in UP politics, but these results have put a question mark on the existence of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). The buzz has intensified whether the BSP has lost its mass base. Is Mayawati's magic over, has the BSP not been able to save its original vote bank too? Looking at the results, it appears that the BSP formed 38 years ago in 1984, has reached its last mile in the 2022 elections. The BSP, which came to power in UP in 2007 with a thumping majority, has been reduced to one seat in 10 years. In the 2022 election, only one BSP MLA (Umashankar Singh from Rasra) has won, all the rest of the BSP candidates have lost the election.

In the 2017 elections, the BSP had 19 MLAs, but by 2022, only three MLAs were left in the BSP. Leaders like Ram Achal Rajbhar, Lalji Verma, Nasimuddin Siddiqui, who were once party chief and former CM Mayawati's special, left her side. The social engineering on which the BSP has enjoyed the pleasure of power, that formula of social engineering has derailed after 2012 so much that today the BSP's own original voter has been drawn from them.

In the name of instilling political consciousness in the Dalit community, Kanshi Ram had formed the BSP. Kanshi Ram's campaign launched to increase consciousness and political unity among Dalits was given a political boost by Mayawati, but went to power in 2012 and 10 years later in 2022, Mayawati was reduced to one seat. The BSP's falling graph came to an end in the 2022 assembly elections. If understood in the statistics, the BSP had gradually increased its vote bank since 1990. Since 1993, the BSP has started winning 65 to 70 seats in the assembly elections, with the BSP, which formed the government with the BJP in 2002, having crossed the 23-mark. In 2007, the BSP got the highest number of 40.43 per cent votes and formed the government on its own. But gradually the BSP's downfall also began. News of recovery in the name of giving tickets started making headlines. To establish yourself as the goddess of Dalits, build a memorial in Noida-Lucknow. But no such work has been done for the upliftment of Dalits so that the votes of Dalits can be held up.

Meanwhile, when the BJP, which has been in exile since the Ram temple agitation, returned to power, it first made a dent in the BSP's core Dalit vote bank. Many officers like Brijlal, Aseem Arun were given a place in the BJP. Ever since PM Narendra Modi contested from Varanasi in 2014, the BJP had started working on OBC and SC voters. As a result, in the 2017 elections, the BSP was reduced to 19 seats and in 2022, the BSP could win only one seat. When the BJP regained power in 2022, the biggest reason behind this is said to be the weakness of the BSP and the joining of its original voter in the BJP.
