What is needed to become a collector?

For this, first, your graduation (in any subject) should be completed.
 

Which exam is to be given to become a collector?

For graduation, the CSE organized by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Examination is required. You have to prepare for the Union Public Service Commission Examination. This examination is conducted to recruit the officers of Grad 1.

Three stages of civil service exam:

Preliminary Examination:

It is organized in June or August. It consists of two exams in total. The first paper is of General Studies and the second is Aptitude Test. The marks of both papers consists of 250 marks each. If the candidates succeed in this examination, then only they qualify for the main examination.

Main Examination:

This exam comprises 9 exams in total which are as follows.

Indian Language: The exam is of 200 marks and you have to select one of the 18 languages.
English: 200 marks.
Essay: In this paper, you have to write an essay on 2 subjects. 
General Studies: 250 Marks.
General Studies: 250 Marks.
General Studies: 250 Marks.
General Studies: 250 Marks.
8th and 9th paper are optional, you can choose it yourself. Both these papers are also of 250-250 marks.

Interview:

After qualifying the preliminary and main examination, you have to go through the interview in the end. In this, the candidates are called on the basis of merit list of the main examination conducted. This interview is of 750 marks.

Who is the collector, what are the duties of the collector?

The person who is recognized as the greatest administrative officer of any district is called a collector. The collector has control over the entire district. Almost every department of the district is under the control of Collector. The collector takes all the decisions related to the district. For example, disaster management, implementation of government schemes, debt distribution, land valuation, debt collection, tax collection, land acquisition, solution of common man's problem etc. are all these tasks of the collector. Maintaining the law and order is one of the major tasks of the collector.
