The PIB's fact-checking team started investigating the viral post amid reports of the 500 rupee note being genuine and fake. PIB India, in its tweet, exposing the lie with its official Twitter @PIB_India handle, wrote that a TIKTOK video is going viral on WhatsApp, claiming that the green stripe near Gandhiji's photo is fake. PIB has also clarified that both these notes are acceptable currency. Press Information Bureau concludes that it is fake news.
