HTC U11 finally gets Android 9 Pie update

Earlier this month, HTC shared some graphs for its Android 9 Pie updates, which were very late - except for U11 Life, and you shouldn’t, because it’s part of the Android One program that handles things differently, with a large control by google over updates. Then HTC promised to deliver the goods first to U11 by the end of this month. And today the deployment of the update begins.

The big caveat is that the Pie update for the U11 is currently available only on the HTC domestic market, namely in Taiwan. We hope that it will quickly spread to other territories around the world, but this remains to be seen.

The update is delivered wirelessly as a download with a capacity of 1.36 GB, and after installing it, you will have software version 3.22.709.2. Expect to get all the positive qualities that Google packaged on Android 9 Pie last year, as well as some disappointing “system improvements” on the part of HTC and the removal of Google+ from BlinkFeed, because Google+ no longer exists.

Since HTC sold most of its Google smartphone manufacturing division, in fact, HTC no longer shows much activity in the mobile space — neither in the release of a large number of new devices and, unfortunately, also in the support of past phones with new software releases.
