91 tech giants laid off around 24,000 employees within 15 days

Around 24000 employees had been laid off from 91 tech companies as they are facing hard to push through the ongoing economic slowdown. As per the recent data around 1600 employees have been fired on per day basis from tech companies around the globe in year 2023.

 In the first 15 month about 24000 employees have been laid off and this is demonstrating of a worse day ahead. As per the data from the Layoffs.fyi it states that over 1000 companies have removed 1.5 lakh employees in year 2022.

Big tech giants like Amazon, Vimeo, salesforce, Google, Twitter, Alibaba, and many more have laid off employees in a huge number. Year 2023 has not come as good news for the tech employees because of the removing process of work force from the companies.

In a matter of 15 days, 24,000 employees have already faced the faith of being removed from the companies task force. These mass layoff incidents are increasing across the globe amid the fears about the global recession and slowdown.  

Last year was difficult for these companies with the ongoing post-pandemic market impact, stagnating their revenue growth with uncertainty of recession. To manage the company expenses amid all the chaos, all tech giants are firing employees to cut down on the cost and restructure the teams.

Hiring in these tech giants have also been paused due to the recession taking place in the economy. With past year being a stress for the tech employees this year seems to be the same for them, fearing the resignation from the companies.

Amazon has already laid off thousands of employees from last year citing economic uncertainty and continuing with the mass layoff in 2023. Jassy confirmed that Amazon is continuing layoffs while firing around 18000 employees across global offices. "We plan to eliminate just over 18,000 roles. Several teams are impacted; however, the majority of role eliminations are in our Amazon Stores and PXT organizations," Jassy wrote in the blog post.

Cisco another tech giant has fired around 700 employees in recent time. This digital communication company has fired from across departments including software and hardware engineering, programme management, product design, marketing, and more. Out of 700 around 371 impacted employees were from the company headquarter in San Jose, California.

Vimeo has announced to lay off its 11% employee, a video streaming platform.  “Today we announced the decision to reduce Vimeo’s team size by 11%. This was an incredibly hard decision, one that impacts peoples’ livelihoods and spirits in already difficult times. It is also the responsible choice to enable Vimeo to be a more focused and successful company, operating with the necessary discipline in an uncertain economic environment” said by the CEO Anjali Sud.

 “The environment remains challenging and our customers are taking a more measured approach to their purchasing decisions..... As our revenue accelerated through the pandemic, we hired too many people leading into this economic downturn we're now facing, and I take responsibility for that" said in the letter wrote to all the employees. Salesforce will layoff around 10% of its total workforce.
