Airtel joins hands with this company for satellite broadband internet

HUGHES Communication and Bharti Airtel have partnered for satellite broadband service in the Indian market. While Airtel is the second largest telecom company in the country, HUGHES has more than 50 years of experience in satellite communication and multi-transport technology. HUGHE's parent company HCIPL uses a very small aperture terminal (VSAT) for enterprises network sized on satellite connectivity.

On this partnership, Partho Banerjee, Chairman and Managing Director, HCIPL has said, "We are very happy about this partnership. This partnership is going to fulfil our commitment to meet the growing demand for network connectivity for business and government customers.''

On the other hand, Ajay Chitkara, Director and CEO, AIRTEL Business said, "We are supporting the digital transformation of our customers through an integrated solution portfolio at Airtel. The partnership between Airtel and HUGHES will take customers to the next-generation satellite connectivity which is committed to enterprise-grade security and service.''
 
According to a company statement, the number of customers in the Airtel VSAT has crossed 200,000. Airtel is currently the largest satellite service provider operator in the country. HCIPL provides broadband networks, solutions and services to Airtel. Simply put, Airtel manages VSAT customers HCIPL. VSAT's service is for government offices and private businesses in sectors such as banks, aeronautical, small to medium-sized businesses, education.
