Protests against racism have continued in the US since last month. In the midst of this performance, television network Hulu dropped an episode of the American sitcom 'The Golden Girls' in which a scene was filmed with characters in blackface.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the scenes removed from the streaming platform were from episode 23 of the Season 3 sitcom, 'Mixed Feelings', in which the characters of Betty White and Roo McCallan were screened in blackface. Aired in 1988, the story revolves around the plot, where Michael (Scott Jacoby), son of Dorothy (Beatrice Author), is planning to marry Lorraine (Rosalind Cash), a black woman. Dorothy is concerned with the age difference while Lorraine's family flatly refuses to marry her daughter to a white person, and thus the two families keep on trying to end the marriage.

In this episode, Lorraine's family Rose (Betty White) and Blanche (Rue McClannon) try facial treatments. In this talk, Rose says, "It's mud on our face, we're not really black." Two weeks ago, the classic Oscar-winning film 'Gone with the Wind' was temporarily dropped by HBO Max.
