Human Rights Commission demands a ban on live-in relationship from High Court

Jaipur: The former judge of the Rajasthan High Court is now the head of the State Human Rights Commission. Even after the decisions of the Supreme Court, he is demanding a ban on live-in relationships. According to the Rajasthan Human Rights Commission, in a live-in relationship, women have to sacrifice their right to live dignified lives. In the same argument, the Commission has demanded the state government to enact a law against the live-in relationship.

According to sources, the commission says that through the law, the right to live a dignified life in society will be safe for women. The Human Rights Commission of Rajasthan is headed by retired Justice Mahesh Sharma. Sharma, along with Justice Prakash Tantia, another member of the Commission, has sent a letter to the Chief Secretary and Additional Secretary of the state demanding legislation. A copy of the letter has also been sent to the Central Government and it has been demanded that the Central Government should also take steps in this direction.

The Commission claims that it has also sought suggestions from several parties on this issue. Police and civil society people have also been included in sending suggestions. The Commission has questioned whether any law should be made to provide protection to women in live-in relationships. The Commission states that a woman living in a live-in relationship with a man without marriage cannot fully utilize her fundamental rights.
