“If you love your work, you’ll be out there every day trying to do it the best you possibly can, and pretty soon everybody around will catch the passion from you – like a fever.”

Dancer, actor, producer and a media entrepreneur, Varun Tiwari is the epitome of the belief that with hard work and single-minded perseverance no goal is hard to achieve. Today Varun is a household name across continents but this success has come with lot of hard work.

Born in the middle class family in a small town of Jalandhar in Punjab, India, Varun was only three years old when he developed an interest in dancing. Self-taught, Varun was soon beating even the adults with his expert dance moves. His favorite dance form till date remains the Bhangra, the traditional Punjabi folk dance. He won numerous dance competitions and awards and was soon a household name in Jalandhar. He did not stop here, but also started teaching dance to people who were new in this field. Soon his dance style and penchant for video direction because famous and sought after.  

Dancer Varun got interested in technology when he started working for Doordarshan, the Indian national TV Channel. His initiative and zeal in learning new things soon got him interested in merging technology with new dance forms.  Varun worked in many movies, worked with legends such as Mr. Jaspal Bhatti and performed in more than 100 stage shows and shoots with well-known artists during his time at Doordarshan.   

Varun moved to Australia in 2005 with the aim to hone his silks. He was fully dedicated to dance. In Varun’s own words, “When I came to Australia, I had two choices in front of me, pick up a normal job or follow my passion to be a dancer. There was no doubt in my mind; I was going to be a dancer.” Soon Varun’s dedication and talent was noticed and his work started making ripples in the Australian dance and culture communities.  He performed in hundreds of dance shows and also started working as a radio jockey in Sydney, Australia. This was a period when the video industry was fast catching up the interest of the market.

Varun had already learned the basics of video making and editing form his friends in Jalandhar, now keeping in line with the future he learnt how to operate a camera and as he learned he fell in love with the mesmerizing world of video production and soon the camera became an essential part of his life.  His first video was with Mr. Sarbjeet Singh. Varun was the dancer, choreographer, actor in this video and from there on his journey continued and today he has made over 1600 videos.  In the year 2012, Varun launched his own production company Friends World TV as a thank you to his friends.  “We cannot chose our parents and siblings as they are selected according to God’s will, but we can chose our friends and I am blessed to have such wonderful friends.”

Many popular singers, actors, and directors have worked under his production banner.  He is the producer of the acclaimed Indie film, “The Jury” which was screened in Sydney. Friends World TV has also produced hundreds of new songs that have been greatly appreciated by the local and foreign audience.  The video ‘Babe di Nu’ by Guri Sekhon produced by Varun Tiwari was one of the top selling videos of its time.  Varun is also the name behind the success of music videos such as Chhala, Pyar Kina Kardi by Sameer Mahi, Tantrums by Garry Bajvva, Identity by Dr Singh, Jatt Te Truck, O Meri Jaan, Tere Kar ke, Deeva by Preet Sargam that has more than 285k views on YouTube, and Love Letter by Dil Jaan. These hit videos were directed by Friends World TV directors Mr. Subash chandar (Sanju ) &  Mrs. Kamaldeep Kaur.

If we sit down to talk about Varun’ talents, the list are never ending. Varun is a dancer, choreographer, dance teacher, video director, cinematographer, producer, editor and performer. Varun has interviewed many new people and has given them an opportunity in his productions to present themselves in front of the whole world. He says, “The community has given me a lot, and now I am giving something back to the community by doing so".  Friends World TV organizes the ‘Teeyan da Mela’ event every year in Sydney. This event is celebrates the colorful festival of Teej. Due to his helpful nature, he was honored by the Punjabi Council of Australia @ Sydney Parliament House, by a special award recognizing his hard work, ingenuity and talent. Varun Tiwari and his team were awarded ‘The Best Music Video Director and Producer’ award at International Australian Punjabi Film Festival in Sydney.  Friends World TV was recognized by Australian Sikh Games, 2018 for its contributions in innovative video productions. Varun is a person who is a source of inspiration for millions of people. What he has achieved is beyond everyone’s reach.  Varun is constantly evolving his talents and striving to bring something new to the entertainment world with each new work.
