Surat: The Eco Cell has arrested a couple in a cheating case in Gujarat's Surat. Both are accused of extorting Rs 1 crore 19 lakh from the people. The criminals told the police during interrogation that they had run a scheme called The Innovative Wealth Management Fund. In which the investors were promised to return the money with a profit of 2.5 per cent every month. Both had invested the investors' money in cryptocurrencies and the stock market, in which they suffered huge losses. So they could not return the investors' money. 

The husband and wife are accused of cheating 18 different persons of Surat by luring them. A person had invested Rs 9.90 lakh in the company of criminals Jayesh Nagar and Pinky Nagar. But the husband and wife did not return the money of the person who invested. Subsequently, he filed a case at the Sarthana police station. The victim told the police in her complaint that she was cheated by luring her with benefits. 

The case registered at Sarthana police station was handed over to the Eco Cell Crime Branch of Surat city. An investigation launched by the Eco Cell revealed that fraudsters Jayesh Nagar and his wife Pinky Nagar had invested by luring not just one person but also 18 persons to pay 2.5 per cent interest. They had Rs 1.19 crore for 18 persons. The police were on the lookout for the couple. Due to this, the police came to know that the cheating husband and wife had vacated a rented house in Surat and moved to Ahmedabad. But his son studies in class 11 in a school in Surat city and the mark sheet is given by the school to the parents of the student. So they will definitely come to get the mark sheet someday or the other. The police were keeping a constant watch on the school and as soon as Jayesh Nagar's wife Pinky Nagar reached the school to collect the result of her child, the police nabbed her. Subsequently, Jayesh Nagar was arrested from Ahmedabad.
