Hyderabad: The Central Zone Task Force along with Narayanguda police on Monday arrested three persons with 40 kg ganja. Acting on a tip-off, the police caught Kovvuri Srinivas Reddy (37) of East Godavari, Gouri Shetty Jagadish (50) of Nalgonda and Gamparai Mohan (36) of Visakhapatnam. One suspect Viswanadham Vallangis is absconding.

The accused purchased ganja from Rajamahendravaram (Rajahmundry) and went to Hyderabad in an APSRTC bus on Tuesday and were waiting to give the contraband to a person at Narayanguda when they were caught, said the police. According to Task Force sleuths, the accused K Srinivas Reddy, 37, a financer, G Jagadish, G Mohan and V Vishwanadham (absconding) had formed a gang and were selling ganja to the needy customers. The duo bought the ganja contraband from Gouri Shetty and Viswanadham and sold it in the city. “Viswanadham brought ganja from Paderu area in Vishakapatnam and sold it to Srinivas Reddy for Rs. 6,000. Reddy then transported the contraband through RTC buses and sold ganja in the city for Rs. 9,000 a kilogram,” the official said.

The accused Srinivas Reddy came in contact with Jagadish and both planned to bring ganja with the help of Vishwanadham who is a resident of Agency area in Vishakapatnam. The official said that another accused Vishwanadham was yet to be nabbed. The seized contraband and the five mobile phones have been handed over at Narayanguda police station for further legal action.
