Hyderabad Airport gets a new interim domestic terminal

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Airport which is also known as Rajiv Gandhi International Airport got a new facility on Saturday. GMR led Hyderabad International Airport commissioned the Interim Domestic Arrivals Terminal (IDAT). The commissioning also coincided with the 11th anniversary of the opening of the Hyderabad International Airport, said GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL).

SpiceJet SG 468 airline passengers flying from Tirupati to Hyderabad (Arrival time: 05.32PM) were the first to get an experience of the new and sprawling facility and were greeted warmly by the airport staff. According to the sources, a new interim domestic arrivals terminal was commissioned at the airport. The new terminal is 4000 square meters in area and it is located in the east of the existing passenger terminal building. The new facility has four new baggage carousel belts of 45-meter length each. It can handle almost 50% of the domestic arrival traffic. The facility is designed to handle almost 50% of the domestic arrival traffic, amounting to around 30,000 passengers daily.

With this addition, Hyderabad International Airport now has a total of seven belts for domestic arrivals, three in the existing domestic arrivals, out which one is used as swing catering to both domestic and international on a need basis. This facility has been proactively conceived and executed keeping passengers’ experience in mind while the airport is expanding to handle the industry growth,” said G.B.S.
