Hyderabad: Cases have been registered against AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi and Telangana BJP unit chief Bandi Sanjay at SR Nagar police station in Hyderabad for making inflammatory speeches during the election campaign of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Inspector of Police of SR Nagar Saidulu said that cases have been registered against both under Section 505 of the IPC.

AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi on Wednesday said that the 'Samadhis' of former PM PV Narasimha Rao and TDP founder NT Rama Rao, built on the banks of Hussain Sagar Lake, would be removed from there. He said this while questioning the campaign to remove the poor people living near the reservoir. He said this while addressing a rally as part of the campaign for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) election.

The BJP termed Akbaruddin Owaisi's statement as inappropriate and asked him to apologize. Akbaruddin asked if the municipal officials who came to destroy the house of a poor man near the pond would dare to do so with the tombstones of the departed leaders? He claimed that the shore of Hussain Sagar Lake was spread over 4,700 acres when it was built by Hussain Shah Wali, but now it is no longer even in 700 acres.
