Prathyusha Parakala, a software professional and a native of Hyderabad, proudly made it to Antarctica. She is amongst the 90 individuals who have been selected as the Global climate change ambassadors to be visiting Antarctica.
All the 90 ambassadors shall work to create awareness about climate change. Prathyusha was awarded by the K Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, for her achievement. When questioned about her plans to spread awareness on climate change in future, Prathyusha stated, "I see a lot of potential in the education sector, children are so full of hope. I want to do a long-term environment curriculum with them. I have been taking sessions with corporate employees of companies that have already sponsored me."
Prathyusha was selected in the year 2017 after which she underwent a preparation of 3 to 4 months on raising money. As quoted by the ANI, Prathyusha affirmed, "My expedition was called as the International Antarctic expedition where we went to the seventh and last continent of the earth. Going so far wasn't just a tour but it was a travel with a purpose.
It was a climate change expedition where ambassadors around the world came there to brainstorm our ideas about how best we can do to preserve our continent." Prathyusha also informed that she came to know about this venture in the year 2013 when she was working for the 'Teach India'.
