NEW DELHI: Starting on August 18 and lasting for three months, Hyderabad International Airport will implement digital passenger processing as a proof of concept on the DigiYatra platform. The DigiYatrawill be simple and hassle-free thanks to DigiYatra's paperless travel facilitation and avoidance of repeated identity checks at the airport.

A facial recognition system will be used by DigiYatra to automatically process passengers at two checkpoints: the Security Hold Area (SHA) in the passenger terminal building and the Departure Domestic Entry Gate 3.
The technical team at DigiYatra has created a unique mobile application for enrollment. To take use of the DigiYatra program's perks, travellers must download this app.

The DigiYatra app is currently accessible at Playstore in beta form (for Android platform). In a few weeks, the same app will be accessible through the App Store (for the iOS platform).

According to CEO-GHIAL Pradeep Panicker, the DigiYatra programme aims to provide airline passengers with a quick, hassle-free, digitally integrated air travel experience throughout the entire voyage.

"We are honoured to have been selected as one of the airports by the Central government for a proof-of-concept for Digi Yatra since it is a significant moment in the history of Indian aviation. GHIAL has previously started face recognition testing that were well-received throughout the airport ecosystem. The usage of a face scan as a boarding pass and paperless travel are both made possible by this technology "he added.

GMR Hyderabad International Airport is one of the 5 airports that has been considered to roll out the DigiYatra programme. DigiYatra team has formulated a Technical Expert Committee with all the airports and airlines to design the framework.
