Hyderabad is now the second highest annual average rainfall since 1916 and met officials are predicting more heavy rainfall in the coming days. MA and UD Minister K T Rama Rao said the state government would take all steps to ensure that the relief and rescue operations are not prevented. On Monday, at a press conference, the minister said that the rain should go for another two months and Hyderabad histroi is expected to receive the highest rainfall this year. The highest rainfall in the city was 142 cm in 1916, but the average rainfall recorded so far this year is 120 cm. The average average of 78 cm is a record.

While taking precautionary measures, 80 special officers have been deployed in GHMC and neighbouring municipalities to carry out relief and rescue operations, the minister said. "These officials will monitor the rescue operations over the next 15 days," he said. Since more boats are needed to move residents to safe places, 30 of them are being arranged from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
