HYDERABAD: A section of ticketing employees of Hyderabad Metro Rail on Tuesday, January 3, went on strike to demand a hike in salaries and better working amenities.

Employees at the ticket booths at 27 metro stations along the L. B. Nagar–Miyapur line staged a sit-in protest to voice their demands. The protesters said that the non-payment of salary has caused them trouble for some time. They also complained that officials were not resolving their issues with the working environment.

The ticketing staff complains that they were having issues  as relievers were not attending to duties on time and the officials concerned were not responding.  they complained that they weren't even given time for lunch.

They were very clear that they wouldn't start working again until their pay was raised. They asked the contracting company for a specific guarantee. The staff members demanded intervention by the higher-ups to do justice.

Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) has reported that sufficient crew is on hand and that train operations are proceeding on schedule.

"A small number of ticketing employees working for a contracting company conspired and skipped work today in order to interfere with train operations and inconvenience passengers. Additionally, they have a vested interest in disseminating rumours and false information. They are acting strongly against the interests of the public and making false claims, thus the HMR management must take serious measures "In a statement, the  HMR management said in a statement.

"The management ensures that due facilities and benefits are provided to staff, however, they will be discussing with them to learn more. Train operations are running on time and sufficient manpower is available," it added.
