Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Police will honour drivers who follow traffic rules in the city by providing a measure letter under a unique initiative. The Rakokanda Police Commissioner launched the "Petrol for Happy Driving" programme here on Thursday. Under the initiative launched by Rachaconda Commissioner Mahesh B Bhagwat, the traffic police will habitually identify drivers who follow traffic rules and take safety measures while driving.

"So far, the police have been trying to identify traffic violators and impose fines and seize vehicles," Bhagwat said. Now, the Rachconda Police has launched a unique programme of its kind in India called 'Petrol for Happy Driving' to mark those who follow the rules. He said, such drivers will be given a sticker and certificate.

The Hyderabad Police has also started taking strict action against those who do not follow the traffic rules. The Hyderabad Police has started deducting the challan of school vehicles for violating traffic rules. So far, the police have deducted invoices of more than 2000 vehicles.
