Hyderabad: The plan to solve the long pending 'Podu Bhoomi' soon

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Saturday directed officials to start work on 'Podu Bhoomi' from the third week onwards. He also said that once the land dispute is resolved, there should be no scope for encroachment of one yard of forest land in future. The Telangana government has decided to launch an action plan to resolve the long pending encroachment on forest land ('podu land'). The Chief Minister warned that the government would take strict action against those encroaching upon the forest land. If needed, an all-party meeting will be called and the leaders will be explained how the forest land was encroached upon.

The CM directed the officers to prepare guidelines for the formation of forest conservation committees. Alternate land on the boundaries of forest areas would be allotted to cultivators on those podu lands which were deep inside the forest. He said that the government would issue certificates to those who have been shifted and facilities like Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima would also be provided besides water and electricity. The CM said that the Harita Haram program was started because forests are essential for the survival of human beings. Its efforts in increasing green cover and forest conservation are yielding good results and have also increased biodiversity. He said that the state has been a model for the country in the implementation of Harita Haram.

KCR said that the government will protect the right to life of the tribals. “The problem lies with outsiders and those encroaching on forest land. Immediately after solving the problem, the government will take strong steps to strengthen its efforts for forest conservation. It is the responsibility of the forest officials to ensure that ‘ No one is inside... there is only forest inside', the chief minister said.
