Hyderabad: The sudden torrential rains on Friday evening brought the city's traffic to a standstill. In many areas, passengers on two-wheelers and cars on the roads remained stranded till then. Traffic police and GHMC personnel got involved in clearing the traffic at the junctions. Some low-lying areas were flooded. Waterlogging was seen on the roads in Panjagutta, Secunderabad, Alwal, Kothapet, Jubilee Hills and Hitech City.

The Enforcement Vigilance and Disaster Management (EVDM) wing of GHMC cautioned the people that sudden heavy rains are likely to continue. A public assistance cell (No. 040-29555500) has been opened for Aapda Response Force assistance. Heavy rains on Friday night led to power cuts and voltage fluctuations in many parts of the city.

According to TSSPDCL, around 25 to 30 feeders in the city reported the problem. There was power supply interruption in 11KV feeder areas from 33/11KV Bathakamma Kunta substation, due to which some areas like Chadarghat, Lalguda, Banjara Hills Road No. 12, Barkatpura, Kuthbyguda, Koti, Golnaka, CE Colony, Tigal Kunta and Jawahar Nagar have closed two Reported power cuts for hours. However, the field staff was able to restore power supply after a few hours. The areas which received heavy rains were Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Punjagutta, Nacharam, Pedda Amberpet, Champapet, Dilsukhnagar, Malakpet, Nagole and Vanasthalipuram.
