Hyderabad: It seems that the capital of Telangana is also witnessing a rise in crimes against women. Despite stringent laws and awareness campaigns, women are becoming victims of crimes. In one such incident, a 32-year-old insurance agent was allegedly raped by seven persons who were in an inebriated condition at Vanasthalipuram on Monday.  The victim approached Vanasthalipuram police on Monday and lodged a complaint.

The woman, a divorcee, said the incident happened after a friend asked her to come to one of his friend’s house. As per the details furnished by the Vanasthalipuram police, the woman who is a divorcee and works in a private firm and a person by name Manoj Kumar had become friends. On Saturday evening, Manoj called the victim, asked her to come to Ashwik’s flat, and shared the location with her on WhatsApp. She reached around 5 pm, and they forced her to drink. Once she was drunk, Manoj and his friends sexually assaulted her, one after the other.

It was at 2 am on Monday that she approached Vanasthalipuram police station and lodged a complaint. A case was registered under sections 376 (rape), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC. Attempts are being made to trace the accused persons who are absconding.
