According to the global auction house Christie's, this is the highest bid ever for any Indian art or jewellery items. The materials also include the 17-carat Golconda diamond 'Arkat 2' sold at a price of $3,37,500 (Rs 23.5 crore). The diamond was once owned by the Nawab of Arkat.

According to the information, an ancient diamond necklace was also bid for which the Nizam of Hyderabad once owned. It sold for about $2,415,000 (Rs 17 crore). Christie's said on Twitter that the 33 diamond necklace was expected to sell for $150,000 (Rs 10.5 crore). Significantly, a necklace belonging to Indore Chef Yashwant Rao Holkar II was sold for Rs 1.44 crore. Also, an extremely old ring of diamonds of Rajmata Gayatri Devi of Jaipur sold for Rs 4.45 crore.
"The rare collection and specially designed New York exhibition 'Maharajas & Mughal Magnifies' auction surged to $10,92,71,875, the highest bid for Indian art or jewellery auctions and the second in a private jewellery collection," the auction house said in a statement. "The record is currently named 'The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor', which was sold for a total of $14.4 million at the auction held in 2011.
