Study Findings:  Hypertension and diabetes were identified as predisposing factors for acute stroke in Indians in a study of 526 patients conducted by a private hospital to examine the risk factors that lead to acute stroke in the country. Future efforts should focus on early detection and aggressive control to reduce stroke and its consequences, according to the study.

As a result, the findings of this study are extremely important for public health, and they call for aggressive detection and control of tension-related hypertension in the community. According to the study, stroke is responsible for nearly 1 percent of all urban hospital admissions, 5 percent of all medical admissions, and 20 percent of all neurological admissions in India.

Ischemic strokes account for about 70 percent of all strokes, with intracerebral and subarachnoid haemorrhages accounting for the remainder. According to the study, when it comes to regional prevalence, south Asian countries have the highest rates of stroke-related mortality. Senior Neurologist Dr Pushpendra N Renjen of Indraprastha Apollo Hospital conducted the research, which was published in the Journal of Hypertension 2021 by the Stroke Research Group Apollo Hospitals. The research was carried out in six private hospitals in India.
