Hyundai has finally made a strong comeback , and this time it intends to offer exclusively electric vehicles, all of which will be sold online. Hyundai has already been forced to leave the nation due to declining sales.

Hyundai's Chief Executive Officer, Jaehoon Chang, stated that the business is prepared to enter the Japanese market and that the decision to return was made after thorough consideration. "With the proper product and the appropriate brand," he continued, "we should know customers, we should know the market."

Hyundai, comprising its Kia and Genesis brands, plans to sell 1.7 million electric vehicles globally by 2026, according to Chang. Japan may be able to assist the Koreans in accomplishing their goals. Hyundai has not stated how many electric vehicles it plans to sell in Japan. "On the EV side, we've seen tremendous growth in Korea, and we expect the same to happen even faster in Japan," Chang added. The Hyundai Ioniq 5, which made its debut last year and was met with great demand, will lead the firm into the market. The EV will compete against Toyota Motor Corp.'s bZ4X and Nissan Motor Co.'s Ariya, two of Japan's major automakers.

Although Japan's adoption of electric mobility is still on a small scale, more than 8,600 Tesla model registrations last year suggest that the country is working hard to catch up to countries like the United States and China. When it comes to EVs in Japan, where 4.5 million vehicles were sold last year, according to Hyundai's CEO, the starting line is the same for all automakers. According to Chang, this allows Hyundai to reposition itself as an EV maker under the Ioniq brand. The pricing at which the Ioniq 5 EV will be sold has also remains unknown.
