In a message to all police officers in Meghalaya, Director General of Police R Chandranathan said he was honoured and blessed to be able to command a force recognised for its gallantry and professionalism.
Only a few days before his retirement, Chandranathan penned this note.

"First and foremost," he said in a memo to all ranks of the Meghalaya Police Force. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all Meghalaya Police officials for their outstanding contributions and devotion to duty over the last three years."

He went on to say that Meghalaya Police had accomplished many wonderful things throughout the years, and that these notable achievements would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of all ranks of Meghalaya Police.

"The journey that began three years ago, began with lots of hopes, and now that it is drawing to a close, the journey has been nothing short of a thrilling and successful one," the letter said. "As I say adieu to our brotherhood, I thank all the police officers and men for carving, eternal memories in the most significant chapter of my life," he wrote. It was difficult for Chandranathan to say goodbye to the "beautiful Meghalaya Police," but as the adage goes, "all good things must come to an end," and the moment has come for him to say goodbye to all ranks of the Meghalaya Police.

“Words are not enough to express how indebted I am to Meghalaya Police and all I can say is Thank you, Meghalaya Police, for bringing smiles into my life, and for being part of this wonderful journey”, his letter read.
