'I had secret documents of Parliament, CBI confiscated', alleges Karti Chidambaram

New Delhi: The CBI had recently conducted raids at several places, including the residence of Congress Lok Sabha MP Karti Chidambaram, in connection with a corruption-related case. Now Karti Chidambaram has alleged that during the raid, the CBI has also seized confidential documents related to the country's Parliament. Not only this, Karti Chidambaram also wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla accusing the CBI of breaching the privilege of Parliament.  

Karti Chidambaram has also lodged a complaint with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in the matter. He has written a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker saying, "I am a member of the Standing Committee on Information and Technology of Parliament. The CBI seized my highly confidential and sensitive personal notes and documents related to the committee during the so-called raid. Karti alleged that the CBI seized his draft notes and the questions he wanted to ask in Parliament.'' He also claimed that his handwritten notes related to the statements made by the witnesses to the committee were also seized by the CBI.  

The CBI had summoned Karti Chidambaram for questioning on Friday. Karti Chidambaram had reached the investigating agency's office for questioning in connection with the alleged visa scam. During this, Karti Chidambaram said, "It is his prerogative to call me and it is my duty to go.'' Karti Chidambaram is alleged to have misused the position of his father, former Union Minister P Chidambaram, to get Chinese nationals to get India visas and take a bribe of Rs 50 lakh in return.
