PR is not her strength, she admits. “I have done some of the biggest TV shows like Balika Vadhu, Naa Aana Iss Des Laado and a few others which I am proud of. But I haven’t encased on those and tried to make myself a brand because I don’t believe in that. I haven’t promoted myself like many others and it may have affected my work. That probably is one of the main reasons why I haven’t got my due as an actor after so many years... but I have no regrets,” she shares.

Asmita began her acting journey with films and gradually moved to television. She says, “I have been performing on stage since I was very young. It has been 18 years since I made my acting debut. I started off with films and later began doing TV shows. But, now I have started to write and produce content too. I feel my journey should end with films. Remembering the time when she did her first TV show Dharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan, she says, “I was new to the industry and when I got some work initially in movies, I thought it would be very easy to get work. Later, I realized that it was not that easy. But I didn’t want to give up acting. I rejected a lot of work too because I wanted to work on my own terms and I wasn’t comfortable doing certain kind of work, so I declined some projects. That’s when I realized that TV is a safe zone where I can work according to my values and wishes. That’s how I started my journey on television. I have always made sure that I do strong roles, whichever the medium. For me, my role is most important and after that comes money.”

After Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya, she had taken a break for ten years. Talking about that, she says, “I left TV for ten years from 2012 till 2021 because I had planned a baby and wanted to focus on my kid. Now that my child is 10-years-old and I feel proud that I have raised him well, I decided to get back to acting with Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya 2.”
