Bear Grylls, the reality TV survival expert who rose to fame following 'Man vs Wild,' confessed to killing "far too many animals" in his early days. Grylls voiced his guilt by telling BBC 4 that he should stop killing animals and only eat dead animals instead, according to femalefirst.co.uk.

"I believe in terms of survival and food, we were probably killing way too many snakes and everything like that in the early days in the sake of survival." Nowadays, I've gone so far away from that. Finding corpses, bugs, and grubs is always a priority. When you look at great survivors throughout history, you'll notice that they were always foragers. "When you go after the big fish, you take too many chances and use too much energy."

Grylls has been influenced by the rise in veganism, as well as his encounters with vegan celebrities on his shows, who have changed his mind about eating meat. "I've brought a lot of vegan and vegetarian celebrities into the woods. It's been a fantastic adventure, and I always treat it with the utmost care."

The former 21 SAS reserve served in the UK Special Forces as a trooper, survival instructor, and patrol medic in the late 1990s. The explorer has been known to eat frogs, beetles, and reptiles during his television career, which includes episodes like 'You vs Wild' and 'The Island.' The former climate sceptic, who suddenly changed his opinion, earlier told 'Good Morning Britain' about forcing Prince George to eat a bug.

In an interview with Susana Reid, Bear compared it to the time he made former US President Barack Obama eat half-eaten salmon on his show 'Running With Bear Grylls,' saying: "Well, I didn't mean to, I mean, we were down there for Prince William's Kings Cup event, and the royal family was there as well.

"'Would you come and simply say hello to Prince George, he's a great fan of your Netflix adventure interactive programme,' remarked the Duchess of Cambridge's mother.
