One of the most well-known businesswomen in India is Namita Thapar. Although she is well-known in the business community, she first made headlines due to Shark Tank India on Sony TV. Presently, Namita works as the Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, a leading pharmaceutical company with offices in Pune, Maharashtra. Namita's life story is incredibly inspirational because she worked hard and was dedicated to her ambitions, and she was able to fulfil them all.

In a recent chat with writer Chetan Bhagat on his YouTube channel, Namita opened up about the challenges she faced as a teenager. She spoke about how people assume that she has always been a strong, powerful personality and has a lot of money but that isn't the truth. Namita reveals that she was not the same powerful human when she was a kid. The Shark Tank India judge adds that she was overweight, had facial hair, and acne, and due to which she was constantly body shamed. She further adds, "When you’re body-shamed like that as a teenager, that leaves a lot of scars. I had facial hair, and there was a guy in my class who’d call me ‘the girl with the moustache’ in Marathi.”

Then Namita explains what happened in her life to change her into the strong woman she is today. She continued by adding, ""I used to have a really low self-esteem and feel very ugly. When I turned 21 and became a chartered accountant, that's when I first felt good about myself ". She continues by saying that she used to judge herself based on how she looked and how well she did in school, but that is no longer the case, and no one ever confronts her about it. Then Namita explained how she cried continuously for her entire life, up until the age of 21. She said, "I felt I was stupid just because I came second, by the way, how stupid I felt I was unattractive, I felt my father didn’t like me enough which is why he didn’t want to spend enough time with me… I thought the issue was with me.”

Namita believes that difficulties are important and said that they have taught her be kinder and more sensitive. She is also pleased that Shark Tank India viewers drew attention to these traits.

Shark Tank India was a platform that supported start-up concepts proposed by youth. On December 20, 2021, it made its debut. In the contest, aspiring Indian business owners presented their business plans to a panel of judges, who were investors. They made an effort to convince them to contribute money to their company. Vineeta Singh, Aman Gupta, Anupam Mittal, Namita Thapar, Ashneer Grover, Ghazal Alagh, and Peyush Bansal were the sharks from the first season of Shark Tank India.
