Dehradun: National Highways Authority of India chief Sukhvir Singh Sandhu has been relieved by the central government appointed department for his native state Uttarakhand on Monday.  With this, IAS officer Sukhbir Singh Sandhu has been made the new Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand.

As per the letter signed by Srinivas R. Ratikithala, Secretary, Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet, Sandhu of the 1988 Uttarakhand Cadre (Cadre) of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is transferred to his original cadre at the request of the State Government. As soon as Sandhu was reported to be returning to the state on Monday afternoon, there were speculations about the removal of Chief Secretary Om Prakash.

Former CM Tirath Singh Rawat is said to have hinted at the removal of the present Chief Secretary by making retired Chief Secretary Shatrughan Singh his advisor. Let us tell you that Om Prakash has been considered as an exclusive associate of Trivendra Singh Rawat, who was CM before that. It is another matter that after Om Prakash in the state, there are speculations of Radha Raturi becoming the Chief Secretary on the basis of seniority.
