IBM, the world's world-renowned IT giant, has shown a million out-of-work to build a team of young employees. This was claimed by a former IBM salesman. Former IBM salesman Jonathan Longley has also complained about layoffs against IBM. Even the case has reached the court. Jonathan claims that IBM has hired a million elderly employees working in the company for years to build a youth team. Jonathan is currently 61 years old.
In a statement, the registrar, who is hearing in court, said that former IBM salesman Jonathan Longley has filed a case against the company, asking the youth team to employ a million people. Alan Wilde, another employee, testified that in the past five years, the company has employed between 50,000 and one lakh people and all of them are aged.
For your information, the company has dismissed such allegations, saying that there is no age discrimination against employees at IBM. The company is 108 years old and joins 50 thousand people every year. The company also claimed that about $50 million is spent on training new employees. This is not the first time a large company has been accused of retrenching elderly employees to build a youth team. Companies like Google, Facebook and Amazon have also been accused in the past.
