Now Akila will not be able to bowl till 29 August 2020. In such a situation, when the Sri Lankan team will advance its campaign in the World Test Championship, it is sure to suffer a big blow due to Akila's absence. Akila Dananjaya's name came into the limelight after dismissing six Indian players including Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the ODI match. The 25-year-old off-bowler has been banned for the second time in two years due to a suspected bowling action.

Earlier, during the Test match against England in 2018, his bowling action was found to be suspicious. This time, his bowling action was found to be doubtful in the Test played against New Zealand in Galle. Dananjaya was then sent to the Sriramchandra Institute in Chennai for bowling tests at the expense of the ICC. The bowler had created panic after taking six wickets the day after his marriage.
