Sydney: The Indian cricket team got defeated in the first ODI at the hands of Australia, but now a new problem has come in front of it. Each format of cricket has a rule under which teams have to finish the innings within the stipulated time frame. However, Virat Kohli & Co. could not bowl 50 overs in the first ODI played in Sydney.

Australia scored 375 runs in the first ODI with the help of Aaron Finch's Steve Smith's century. The ICC tells you the details of what penalty has been imposed on Team India captain Virat Kohli and the players. Team India was fined 20 per cent of match fees for slow over-rate against Australia in the first ODI of the series in Sydney. India took four hours and six minutes to complete their 50 overs in the first ODI, in which they lost by 66 runs.

ICC Match Referee David Boon has imposed this penalty on Team India. The ICC said in a statement issued on Saturday that according to the ICC's Code of Conduct for Minimum Over Speed Violation for Players Support Staff, players should be paid 20 percent of their match fees every over in the event they are unable to bowl in the stipulated time. Captain Virat Kohli has accepted the proposed penalty of infringement, so there is no need for an official hearing.
